The Young Urban Society has a good number of members and they are spread all over the state of Wisconsin. DJ ROC is one of those said members. He is originally from Milwaukee but currently resides and spins in the city of Oshkosh. YUS CEO DJ Cell thought The Illixer would enjoy learning more about the man behind the one’s and two’s whose known for bringing any event to life. Discover what DJ ROC had to say when the site caught up with him after the jump.

Background Info: This DJ is a guaranteed party starter! Born and raised in Milwaukee, DJ ROC spins everything under the sun including: Hip-Hop, Top40, Reggaeton, House Music, Freestyle, etc. He has opened up for major artists such as: Basshunter, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Pauly D, Lady Raven, Ke$ha, Pitbull, and many more. He has also done local gigs around the Wisconsin area with the likes of: DJ Rozz, Chris Trip, DJ G-Spot, Kid Cut Up, C-Piepz, Chubz, and others.  Mini Q&A:

The Illixer: Top three favorite deejays of all time?

DJ ROC: DJ AM (Rest In Peace), Bad Boy Bill, DJ Z-Trip

TI: Favorite song or type of music to play?

DJ ROC: I never had a favorite song or type of music. I listen to all genres and artists. I LOVE music, its a universal language and I am an open format DJ but I do lean on Hip-Hop and House music more than others.

TI: Favorite place to spin at and why?

DJ ROC: Suite Nightclub in Milwaukee. The last time I played there I got so much love from everyone who was there partying. Great atmosphere and the DJ booth is set up in a perfect spot.

TI: One trait that is a must have for every real DJ?

DJ ROC: Originality, believe in yourself, and just be you. Everyone has their own style, don’t try and be someone else. That is said out of respect, by the way.

TI: If you could change one thing about the art of deejaying today it would be?

DJ ROC: I don’t mind controller DJ’s or any other type of DJ. I always said if you can rock a crowd it doesn’t matter how you do it. But I would like to see more people using some sort of turntablism whether it be: scratching, beat juggling, scratching in the next song, etc. All of that there is considered to me to be the art of deejaying.

**My Two Cents: DJ ROC seems like a pretty easy going individual. I like the fact that he doesn’t limit himself to any one genre of music. That type of diversity makes for much more interesting sets. And the foam party in the video looks awesome. The YUS team does it big. Make sure to keep up with him by giving his page a like on Facebook and following him on Twitter. If all of his events turn out like the foam party, he’s definitely a DJ to catch in action at least once or twice. Big salute to DJ ROC for participating in That’s My DJ! -MinM
