“Still Love Me” (previous review)

Milwaukee talent ER Kenta (Rebel Religion) has officially cemented himself as a solo artist with the fresh release of his highly anticipated EP, Juggin Thru The Pressure. The project contains a total of eight tracks with only one guest appearance. Said guest appearance happens to be another 414 favorite, C-Mill$. Additionally, it includes the hit singles “Still Love Me” and “You Feel It.” Continue reading after the break to see how The Illixer feels about his debut solitary venture.

A year has passed since the site featured long time affiliate DJ Trill Will. He’s still going hard in the radio market and is locking down the club scene in a variety of locations around Wisconsin as well. To top it all off, he dropped one of his infamous mixtapes at the end of last month. With the recent rift between those behind the one’s & two’s and local artists, it comes at just the right time.

This coming weekend, Milwaukee music scene persona and local community activist Lexi Trenee is bringing two very exciting events to the 414. First up is Independency 101. It takes place on the 25th (Saturday) from 6pm to 8pm. It’s a workshop that will feature special guest speaker Lorenzo D. Heard (Premier Entertainment Group) dropping some music business knowledge on local artists in hopes to help give them some gems that they can apply to their careers. Additionally, she has called on a few local movers and shakers to share what they can as well. The Illixer‘s own MinM, DJ Deftone, DJ Trill Will, and community activist Andre Lee Ellis will all be on hand to add to the mix. It’s a free event and is taking place at the WestCare Harambee Center. The address for the venue can be found in the above flyer along with any other pertinent information.  It should be a fun evening of learning, networking, and connecting.

Street Team Inc member Loud has been making some major noise throughout the 414 with his new single/video “My City.” It includes a guest appearance from Street Team’s commander in chief Hektik and will appear on his upcoming mixtape, Loud And Clear. The single is set to a five star heavy hitting production laced with a serious hood vibe. Loud & Hektik add to the caliber of the song with token flows and exceptional rhymes. As a whole, it is a certified street banger hands down.

Singer/rapper Kaylee Crossfire has been quiet for some time now. However, a couple of days ago she ended her silence in a major way. She did the seemingly impossible and gathered some of the hottest femcees in the Mil together on one track/video. The artists she rounded up were: Kia Rap Princess, Lady SabO, Young Key, & Remedy Da Kure. The ladies dubbed their collaboration, “Female Takeover.” The record was produced by JBreezz Beatz. The production is insane. The booming foundation, climactic background ingredients, eccentric pace, and animated vibe; blend cohesively together. There is no hook on this one. The transitions between the ladies goes off without a hitch though. The verses are favorable. Each femcee came with her own original flow, striking wordplay, and heavy hitting rhymes. They made their presence felt loud and clear. Remedy Da Kure seems to be the fan favorite. She definitely ended the song with a bang. Overall, this was a one of a kind four star collaboration.
