Nu Money is a name that is all too familiar to us here at The Illixer as well as anybody up on good indie/underground Hip-Hop. His new project Now That I Have Your Attention is currently making sure that things stay that way. The good folks behind Life + Music = recently got the chance to shoot the breeze with the young emcee. Continue reading to get the scoop on their exchange.
Life + Music =: How long you been rapping? What inspired you to pick up the mic?
Nu Money: For about 13 years, since I was about 15 years old. I’ve always been a writer taking that extra step towards exposing my talents. Took a little longer to come around but my inspiration was the fact that I have a story to tell. Hoping to inspire my listeners and help them get through their own obstacles.
L+M=: What is something that you want people to get from your music?
NM: Hunger … the hunger to strive for better. To aim higher with each attempt.
L+M=: If you could work with anyone dead or alive who would it be and why?
NM: I have a knack for R&B vocalists, so I’d be honored to work with Party Next Door. On the Rap/Hip-Hop side, I’d go with Future.
L+M=: Why do you think being a rapper is the new trend?
NM: Because music is becoming more saturated. The expectations of what make a person an artist/rapper have been lowered so anyone with a beat, notebook, and friends can be accepted despite talent.
L+M=: What do you want to accomplish with your rap career?
NM: To shed a different light on Milwaukee. To let the world know it’s more to my hometown then what is being broadcasted.
L+M=: Do you have any up and coming shows or projects?
NM: Yes, Now That I Have Your Attention is available for free download on Spinrilla and Sound Cloud. Also, Dreamers Never Sleep (the album) is available on all digital sites (iTunes, Tidal, Spotify, Amazon, etc). NuMoney Live in Concert is also in the works for early this year, date TBA!
L+M=: Life plus music equals what to you?
NM: With my passion for music those two things run concurrent … can’t have one without the other.
