Local female emcee Kia Rap Princess of Blaqlizt Entertainment has been doing some major things lately. The most recent took place last Friday (8/24/2012).  BlackWorld Music Group put together a pretty big event for the Milwaukee Hip-Hop scene. They got the infamous DJ Pain 1 and rapper I-20 to stop by the Mil-town during their Celebrity Rehab / Midwest Alliance Tour. The gang held an open mic style competition at local venue Grainger’s Pub & Grill. It consisted of multiple rounds where some of the best on the mic got a chance to show off their talents in front of DJ Pain 1, I-20, industry mogul Mr. Get Your Buzz Up, and of course a crowd of supporters and Hip-Hop lovers.

Artists were not only there for the recognition and exposure but there were also two prizes up for grabs. The winner of the competition got a chance to be featured on a track with I-20 or open up for him at his show the next night in Eau Claire, WI. It was a long ordeal and it had a few hiccups. But overall the event was a success. About 14 plus artists went head to head by the time things were all said and done. But there was only room for one winner and that person was the princess herself. That’s right Kia took the whole thing and the crowd was behind her 110%. In fact, she made such a good impression that the judges allowed her to have both prizes. So she got to make her debut in a new city and now has a future pending single with a dope Georgia emcee. Congrats Kia!

If all of that wasn’t enough, Kia also made the front page of a new publication. AMRecords featured Kia and her new video on their front page the day after her premiere in Eau Claire. What a nice way to end the weekend, huh? The video they featured was the latest visuals for a song she did for a past local beat competition. The song is titled “I’ll Be Reppin.” The video was done by our favorite camera man Steve White. It’s a short little number that features Kia doing her thing while rocking some signature Milwaukee gear. The dramatic atmosphere, cool car angles, and Kia’s one of a kind mannerisms; makes this another victory for the duo. For more with Kia Rap Princess check out her brand new website. It’s the one stop shop for all things KRP.

**My Two Cents: I was in the house when Kia won the I-20 competition and I have to say it was really dope to experience. The love she received from the judges was well deserved. And seeing the crowd get behind her so strongly was awesome. It’s pretty neat too that she got both prizes. She seemingly enjoyed her time in Eau Claire and the track with I-20 is sure to be a banger. Keep an eye out for it. It will definitely be featured on the site when it drops. -MinM
