“Put Molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it. I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.” That might be a Rick Ross lyric, but that is Cee-Lo Green’s motto. Yes, you read that correctly. Mr. Cee-Lo Green likes to unknowingly drug his sexual partners. This boys and girls is called rape. But Mr. Green doesn’t see it that way. First let me backtrack. In 2012, Cee-Lo was accused of slipping ecstasy into a lady’s champagne and most likely raping her. The woman says that they were having dinner and then she remembers waking up naked in his bed. No rape charges were filed due to lack of evidence. Cee-Lo’s lawyer also argued that everything that happened was consensual and therefore no crime was committed.
Recently, Cee-Lo pleaded no contest to supplying the ecstasy. He was given 45 days of community service and three years on probation. Then, Mr. Green decided to hop on Twitter and share his views about rape:
- If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent.
- People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!
- When someone breaks into a home there is broken glass. Where is your plausible proof anyone was raped?
- So if I TRIED but did not succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?
Cee-Lo then apologized for those tweets and deleted his Twitter account. First, let me say F your apology. These tweets reminded me of O.J. Simpson’s If I Did It book. You basically admitted to raping that woman. You can’t be that dumb. If somebody is passed out, they can’t consent to anything. They’re not conscious. To be conscious, one is to be awake and aware of one’s surroundings. Next, people remembered being raped? Oh so if you slip something into my drink and I don’t know it. I pass out and you have sexual intercourse with me. Oh well, that’s not rape? How dare you? So basically you see nothing wrong with taking advantage of women. The moment you slipped her that ecstasy pill, you saw no problems with that. Don’t you have a daughter? Your last tweet, then, basically says you tried to rape her. You showed no remorse. Oh let me guess, you changed your mind at the last minute because you realized you were wrong. Nope. Your last tweet seems like you couldn’t get it up, so you quit.
No means No. And if the person you’re with isn’t conscious enough to give you an answer. The default answer is NO. 45 days of community service and three years on probation isn’t enough because Cee-Lo proved that he doesn’t get it. He believes that if you’re not conscious that it’s okay for him to do what he wants to your body. Since he won’t be going to jail, send him to a women’s shelter. Let him hear the stories of rape and domestic violence victims. Let him ask these women what’s their plausible proof. Between him, Ray Rice, and many others, there seems to be a war against women going on. And that needs to stop. Oh, and to the folks sticking up for Cee-Lo … I hope you never have a daughter. And if you already do, I pray she is never in this or any type of situation similar to this. -Pooh Bailey
