Ay-Rock – “Get Away”

Ay-Rock (Technology Records) has vamped up his promo for his up-and-coming project RTG (Ready To Go). Last month he ran a campaign on Instagram titled #100likesNewMusic which resulted in the release of a single called “Get Away.” The song is produced by the artist himself in conjunction with Kevin K Beats.

The production here is sleek. The low lying bass, sunken secondary components, midmost tempo, and mellow vibe are of a five star quality. The hook is customary. The delivery is neat and the lyrics are fetching. The verses are commendable. Ay-Rock extends a well-blended flow, standout wordplay, and fresh rhymes. He effectively breaks down some hurdles that he’s up against which in turn justifies his desire to escape from it all for a bit. A handful of legitimate lines are: “Stay sharp and keep it proper. See that we unleashed a monster. Believe in what we accomplish. Tell ’em I’m on it. It’s on me to show these imposters. Know he’s controlling the markets. Keep ’em in the middle of the lane when we rolling cause they holding up the game every second that they show up. (…) N—as always talking trying to say that they the one. Not even second best, admit it. If you thinking that you got it, tell em hang it up. Catch me in my zone. Watch me change it up.” Those bars right there definitely go in. As a whole, this is a pertinent selection.

**My Two Cents: This is a cool record. The production is top notch with a lot of flavor to it. The content is put together in a worthy fashion. I definitely dig the theme. Also, Ay-Rock has quite few quotables within the verses. It was hard to choose just one portion to highlight. With every track released, my anticipation for hearing RTG (Ready To Go) in full grows just a little more. Readers can keep up with Ay-Rock via the provided links to be sure to catch the project when it hits the net. And of course The Illixer will be on the lookout for it as well. -MinM
