“Roc”

The Dream has been through a lot in the past few years. However, he seems to be ready to put all the drama behind him and get back to what he does best. Which is blessing the R&B scene with hot music. The word is that The Dream is set to drop his fourth studio album this year titled The Love, IV (Diary of a Mad Man). “Roc” is supposed to serve as the lead single off of the upcoming project. The production here is fire. It has a nice low bass with a slight knock and a smooth grown and sexy feel to it. The hook is on point as well. Dream has flawless vocals and the lyrics are memorable. The verses are hot too. Dream turns on his usual charm as he shares his desires with a special lady. Again, his vocals are very pleasing to the ears and the lyrics are well put together. But that comes as no surprise. Dream is known for making the perfect mood music for that special occasion. Overall, this track is a winner. Definitely a good way to create buzz for the new album.

“Supafreak” F / 2 Chainz

The Dream isn’t the only person with new music out. Young Jeezy has some new tunes in the mix as well.  During the holidays, Jeezy dropped his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition. “Supafreak” features 2 Chainz and visuals for the track were just released this week. The production here is okay. It contains a heavy bass, a light clap, and an intense/street vibe. The hook is solid. Jeezy brings his signature raspy style flow and average lyrics. The verses are good. Both Jeezy and 2 Chainz did a respectable job. They both had clean flows and their rhymes were satisfactory. However, neither rapper stood out over the other or really came with their best material. The creativity and wordplay could have been stepped up a notch. Overall, this song is alright. Fans of Jeezy will probably like it but it’s certainly not the best track off of the new album.

**My Two Cents: Of the two tracks, I prefer The Dream’s cut. He may have some unattractive ways about him but the man knows his way around a dope track. As always though, readers are encouraged to listen to all of the music for themselves. And please feel free to share thoughts on the singles in the comments section below. Stay tuned for more new music from B.o.B. And sending love to DJ Poizon Ivy for sharing the music! -MinM
