Yo Dot – A Winters Ration (Album Review)

by Miracle

Umbrella Music Group and Earmilk.com proudly bring the new release from Milwaukee Hip-Hop artist  Yo Dot, A Winters Ration. This EP from the Milwaukee native is six tracks of original music with the heart and soul of city living followed and blended into an instant classic. The lead single off this project “I’m On It,” featuring and produced by Hart Gunther draws the listener in with a melodic hook guided by driving bass and drums. Yo Dot has tapped some of the finest up and coming producers in the game to supply the instrumentals that he flows over.

With a lyrical content that brings on memories of Common and Raekwon, Yo Dot is making his mark with this project. The limited number of tracks leaves the listener putting the entire album on repeat just to hear more. And more is what is in store. Be sure to go to www.earmilk.com tomorrow (January 22) to download your copy of this Hip-Hop EP and enjoy some vibe music during these cold winter days.

My 2 Cents: In my past reviews I have selected the tracks that stick out as being above average. In the instance of this project, each of the six tracks has the ability to stand on its own as either the assembled project or as singles released through out the year. True Hip-Hop as well as the roots of the movement are shown in this project. I hope you download and enjoy. ~Biggz
