“No Feeling” (listen/download)

A little over a week ago, Milwaukee rapper Watley unleashed a brand new single on the web. The track is titled “No Feeling.” The production here is choice. It is made up of an array of peculiar sounds, an ultra-cool rhythm, and an intense vibe. The hook is strong. The delivery is casual and the lyrics are simple yet blunt. The verses are coherent. Watley exudes a stern flow, biting wordplay, and flippant rhymes. He conveys some very harsh sentiments to the listener in an arresting fashion. Some lines worth observing are: “Make sure your fist is firm and clenched when you spar. Can’t trust these practice steals. All these n—as swing for real. All my n—as swung from trees. That’s what my gramps told me. He let his anger build for years just to build his legacy.  And I shed not a tear when he passed it down to me. When you pass the torch to gasoline, tell me what you see.” Unconventional yet dope bars being spit right there. All in all, this track is a winner. A little on the hostile side but it still has an undeniable magnetism about it.

**My Two Cents: I’m digging this cut a lot. I’d even say it’s one of my favorite singles by Watley so far. The jaded nature of the track gives it life and Watley had some inventive content. A video for this song is being considered. I’d love to see how a set of visuals would turn out. Be sure to check back to find out if the flick ever comes into fruition. -MinM
