Love can be a beautiful thing. Finding a companion whom you share an one of a kind emotional bond with that lights up your world and inspires you to be better is an amazing feeling. On the other hand, love can be pretty crushing too. The bond can fade for any number of reasons and that companion can end up leaving right along with it. Going through the negative part of love can leave scars which makes it harder and harder for one to give their heart away again. Tiki Da Poet finds herself in this very position in her first ever untitled submission to the site. Check it out below.

“Untitled”

(Poem By Tiki Da Poet)

It amazes me … how I feel about u …
It’s almost like I’m lost without u …
like Mary J. said …”I’m going down …
cause u ain’t around” …
baby …
or maybe …
like Sade …”u gimme the sweetest taboo
that’s y I’m in love with u” …
trust in me …
the way that I trust in u …
gimme a reason …
a reason 2 give my all 2 u …
falling in love …
is hard 4 me 2 do …
I’ve been hurt so many times …
endured so much bullshit …
so much unnecessary shit …
but I wish I could find love again …

Tiki returned to her usual formation for this one. She used conventional word choice but spiced things up with references to classic Soul/R&B singers and lyrics from some of their signature songs. That was a crafty idea. Also, it helped to drive home the feelings being expressed in the beginning of the piece. The end of the literary work is striking as well. The reader can feel Tiki’s despair from being hurt in the past and how it is making it difficult for her to accept love in her present. This is undoubtedly a battle that a lot of women and men alike have endured in their romantic endeavors. Overall, this was a sentimental read.

**My Two Cents: This was a brief yet quality piece. I really enjoyed the nods to Mary J. Blige and Sade, that was neat. Also, I liked the blunt tone that Tiki used at the end. She really captured the essence of being heartbroken. If readers enjoyed this submission too, they definitely want to keep an eye out for the next one. It’s another collaboration and it’s just as awesome as the last one we saw from Tiki. Major love to her for keeping the site stocked with excellent writings. -MinM
