The last time readers got to fill their ears with some music from Southern duo Strange Tang was all the way back in April. So when the opportunity came to share their new tune, it was a must. The song is labeled “Pain” and it features a guest appearance by an artist who goes by the name of Mixture with an instrumental done by Weatherman Beatz.

The production here is on ten. The plentiful bass, snazzy musical components, infectious rhythm, and hood savvy vibe result in an undeniable combination. The hook is pretty sick too. The delivery is charismatically melodic and the lyrics evoke realness. The verses are legitimate. The flows are assorted, the wordplay is commendable, and the rhymes are gritty. The fellas paint a thorough portrait of their perception of the term in the title in a very grounded fashion. A handful of reputable lines are: “All this scheming plotting on money don’t leave much time for these b—hes. Quiet dude but my weed loud. Weed man on speed dial. Say your smoke strong better than mine. F–k boy, I don’t see how. I’m holding on to them days when all my partners was living. All the money was flowing. All my players was winning. It’s living hell at night. Still smell the screaming. Remember how it started. Can’t let go of that ending. I love my n—as, it’s true. Ain’t too many new ones up in my crew.” Those are some seriously trill bars right there. As a whole, this single is a banger.

**My Two Cents: This was a great way for Strange Tang to make their way back onto the site after being away for a bit. This record goes in from start to finish. The production is boss and the content is nothing to take lightly either. I really dig the concept and I like the way the fellas got their points across. They came with a street politicking type of approach. Not sure if this signifies a new project on the way but if so, I can’t wait to hear more. And if it is just a stand alone number, I’m not mad at that either. Readers need to go ahead and click that play button asap. -MinM
