Veteran emcee Rue The Poet has been teasing of a new album on the horizon for some time now. The wait is officially over. On November 11th (Friday), he will be dropping his highly anticipated third studio album entitled Chasing The Ghost. Inspired by the musings of the late great Nina Simone and personal life experiences, the LP sees the poet taking things up a notch from his previous efforts. Grammy award winning engineering, fresh Las Vegas production, and a well rested Rue who has a lot to say since he’s been away. This Friday is going to be a big deal.

To give his fans a taste of what he’s been working on, Rue shared a track off of the upcoming project. The song is called “Soil & Roses” and it is produced by the one & only Alien Architect. Trust me that’s a name that you’ll want to get familiar with asap. The production here is pure gold. The deep rich bass, sleek soulful musical details, mild tempo, and groovy vibe are a perfect auditory match. The hook is a winner too. The delivery is creative and the lyrics leave a lasting impression. The extended verse here is finely crafted. Rue The Poet serves up his signature breezy flow, smart wordplay, and thoughtful rhymes. He paints a vivid auditory portrait of what it means to thrive despite rough circumstances. Peep as he spits: “It’s funny how the system look at us though. Crooked eyes always telling lies. But I fox guys when the pigeons are low. They see despise in the way we rise so like Busta Rhymes I just give ‘em some more.” One has to appreciate the meaning and the reference work going on within those bars. Overall, this selection is a gem and a choice way to usher in the pending project.

**My Two Cents: Even though I’ve had manager listening privileges (lol), I am still too hype for Chasing The Ghost to drop this Friday. Rue The Poet has really stepped his game all the way up. Plus, he has some messages that the world could definitely use right now. “Soil & Roses” is a dope record. I love the feel of the track. And Rue killed that hook. It’s giving me cruising through the city while the sun is going down energy. Good reflection type of cut. But this is just a sample of what Chasing The Ghost has to offer. Make sure y’all tap in to that link at the start of the post. You do not want to miss this drop on Friday! -MinM
