RoQ’y TyRaiD is an emcee who hails from the West Coast, specifically Los Angeles, CA. His style has been described as being derived from the 90’s era with a modern twist. He is known for his originality, wit, personality, and sometimes controversial content. His latest offering comes in the form of a single called “LAX To Germany.” The song is part of a collaboration with German producer Rice Master Yen. TyRaiD had this to say about the track: “LAX is about encouraging more international collaborations of indie scenes; we’re all headed in the same direction.“
The production here is nice. It contains an upbeat tempo, some smooth instrumentation, and a cool vibe. The hook is good. The delivery is polished and the lyrics are adequate. The verses are appealing. TyRaiD serves up a graceful flow with a side of intellectual rhymes. He really embodies the “golden era” style while exhibiting his skills to the listener. Prominent lines include: “My world you just live in it. If you don’t like it, leave. Now you’re on my wagon like I copped me a Volvo. You Powderpuff n—as ain’t stopping my Mojo. Jojo’s a better rapper than you. You little n—as ain’t moving ’til the captain salute. I wrote this in my sleep. Who told you, you’re a beast? You the lion in the jungle. I’m the poacher in the jeep.” That is just some purely ill spitting right there. In the end, this song is a grade A cut. The production and content were both masterfully handled and it has a very attractive feel to it.
**My Two Cents: TyRaiD and Rice Master deserve a pat on the back for this track. The duo complimented each other perfectly. If this is what international collabs give birth to, I agree that more artists need to make them happen. And I dig TyRaiD’s style overall. He’s got a strong consistent flow and a lot of charisma. Hope to hear more from the LA native in the future. Readers can listen to more of his music here. Shout out to the Zulu Nation! -MinM
