Yesterday evening (11/30) the internet began to flood with rumors that actor Paul Walker had died. As the initial reporting source was TMZ, the info was received with mixed reactions. Some people immediately took to their social media accounts to express their sentiments while others passed it off as just another celebrity hoax. Eventually, reps from Paul Walker’s camp reached out online confirming the worst.

The ‘Fast and Furious’ co-star had indeed passed on. He was involved in a horrific car accident while attending a charity event in Southern California for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. The event was to benefit those impacted by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. He and a friend decided to go for a spin in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT just yards away from the event venue. His friend lost control of the vehicle and the two slammed into a light pole. From there the car went up in flames. Both Walker and his friend died on the scene. No details of what caused the loss in control have been revealed. However, the police have confirmed that speed did play a factor in this tragic event. And there is some talk that burned rubber & doughnut marks were found near the crash site as if someone had been doing figure eights. Walker was 40 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his teenage daughter Meadow. The entertainment world was stunned by the unexpected tragedy, especially Walker’s fellow ‘Fast and Furious’ cast mates. The crew was in the midst of filming for the seventh movie in the franchise, which was supposed to hit the big screen sometime next year. Ludacris, Tyrese, and Vin Diesel are just a few celebs who have openly expressed their grief and fond memories of the popular actor. Walker’s acting career began in his youth and he has gone on to appear in countless television shows and films. He was known for his charm, good looks, kindness, and enthusiasm for cars/adrenaline that far surpassed the big screen. Ride in peace Paul Walker. You may be gone but you will certainly never be forgotten.

**My Two Cents: I am a HUGE Paul Walker fan. Like every other woman in the world, I had a major crush on him (lol). But I also genuinely enjoyed his acting. He fit into his roles well and just seemed like a really nice guy. Never heard a bad word about him, he was never mentioned in any scandals or drama, etc. So I was rocked by the news of his passing. I wouldn’t even entertain the idea until I saw it on multiple credible media outlets. It is a truly heartbreaking bit of irony. He was so young and the fact that it happened while he was giving back makes it feel that much more wrong. But everything happens for a reason. My heart goes out to his friends and family, especially his baby girl. As the rest of the world has uttered, I agree the franchise will never be the same again. Brian O’Connor was the man. Rest in peace Paul, may your spirit forever live on. -MinM
