Baltimore artist Malik Ferraud recently hit fans with a new single. The track is called “For The Pain” and it was produced by Black Diamond. At this time, the song is not scheduled to appear on any upcoming projects. So think of it as a gift from the music loving emcee. The production here is hot. It enlists a sample of Sade‘s “I Will Be Your Friend” from her Diamond Life album. It has a jazzy throw back Hip-Hop feel to it. Props to Black Diamond on the svelte sound. The hook is fly. The delivery is easy going and the lyrics are amusing. The verses are straight. Malik contributes a care free flow, light wordplay, and graceful rhymes. He shares his solution for dealing with the stresses of the industry and gives a little insight as to why he makes music. Noteworthy lines include: “I never thought that I’d be in the position to lead. All I’ve ever done is put rhymes to a beat. That I feel could change anyone who listens to me speak. Pay attention, pay attention. I create these lines, so you can get it, you can get it. As I envision cruising all through the pacific. Blowing on something different you can’t get unless it’s shipped in. I tip my hat, roll up another sac and relax.” Those lines have a nice progression to them. Overall, this song is a winner.

**My Two Cents: This was a well put together track. It was brief but it holds the listener’s attention from start to finish. Black Diamond and Malik definitely did themselves justice on this one. But please spare the two minutes and hear for yourselves. After that, go explore Malik’s website and learn more about the Baltimore talent. -MinM
