Guess it’s the season for new web series. R&B superstar Taylor Mallory and his Level Next Music team have decided to open up their world to their supporters as they gear up to release a brand new project this Fall. They are granting fans a behind the scenes look at the mixtape process via an original web show titled Making The Mixtape: My Level Is Next Volume 2. So far they are about two episodes in and the feedback has been great. Peep episode one below and episode two can be found after the break.

The first episode in this series has been dubbed “The Struggle.” It gives insight on Level Next Music’s history, introduces new artists, shares the multiple roles of the Level Next Music team members, and more. It is a real treat for established fans and a great introduction for those who may not be too familiar with the Level Next Music camp.

The second episode is called “Conflicts.” This time around viewers are privy to a little drama within the Level Next Music camp. Choosing the first single for any project is crucial. It sets the bar for the rest of the mixtape/album and gives a glimpse of how fans might receive future material. In this case, Taylor Mallory is happy with a previously selected first single as is but his camp wants to tweak it a bit. Cue the head butting. It’s not all negativity though. Viewers also get to see a very vulnerable side to Taylor and witness newcomer Erica Franklin‘s first studio session. This was a very captivating episode.

**My Two Cents: I am feeling this series so far. I love how everybody in the Level Next Music camp takes on more than one task. Also, I like the honesty of it. Conflict happens when groups of people work together. I think showing it was a brave and real choice. Other artists will be able to sympathize and non-industry viewers will appreciate the authenticity that it brings to the series. This is shaping up to be an awesome project so far. I can’t wait to see more. Be sure to visit Level Next Music online via their website and Twitter. -MinM
