Kia Rap Princess has hit a hot streak. Fresh off of her first Rock crossover set, she already has another big gig lined up. This one will take her down to the beautiful city of Miami where she will get to expose the Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes crew as well as other industry hot shots to her brand and how she gets down. She hits the road on the 28th of this month. So congrats and well wishes are in order. If that wasn’t enough, she decided to give her supporters a new song & video. She’s been teasing her social networks with snippets of what she’s coined her “Me$tyle” of “Danny Glover” by Young Thug for a minute now. But the wait officially ended last night at midnight when she unleashed the free single download along with a set of visuals.

For the song, KRP decided to keep the original beat in tact. For those who may not have heard it, the beat is a banger. It’s a bass driven number with a dark infrastructure, creeping tempo, and sobering vibe. The hook is all fresh material. Kia comes through with an unique delivery that’s based in a similar pattern to the initial hook. The lyrics pack a punch. There is one extended verse and it’s on ten. The princess slays with a forceful flow, snappy wordplay, and assertive rhymes. She fires on all cylinders with lines like: “All you buster a** n—as can’t stand the s–t. But we never gave a f–k ’bout what y’all think. Have a seat over there with the rest of ’em. I be s–tting on tracks with the best of ’em. And my n—as pouring up like it’s Sunday. Cause you already know that we blessed homie.” One has to dig the bravado in those bars right there. Overall, this was a jamming remix.

The video was shot by 40Mil. The location for the flick is the Third Ward Milwaukee district. The area is described for tourists as historic and full of thriving businesses but in this instance it’s a bit more ominous. The nighttime lighting, alleyways, and isolated surroundings set up a grave atmosphere. Then KRP is rocking serious attire with a black jersey and fatigues. Couple that with her turnt up mannerisms and 40’s subtle yet nimble editing devices and the visuals compliment the theme of the selection perfectly. As a whole, it’s a short number but certainly worth viewing.

**My Two Cents: First, on behalf of The Illixer I would like to extend best wishes to KRP on her endeavor in Miami. I don’t think they ready (lol). Second, this remix is fire. Young Thug makes my ears hurt but Kia smashed this track. I love how she retained the style of the hook but made it her own and the content was sick. 40Mil got busy with the camera too. The video is simple but very effective at the same time. This song is just the tip of the iceberg. KRP is currently working on an untitled mixtape and her No Limit EP will also be dropping this year. So make sure you bookmark her website (see above) so that you don’t miss out on anything. -MinM
