Genesis Renji (The House Of Renji) has been on fire as the clock winds down for the release of his upcoming project with producer Taz Taylor, 2 In The Chamber. The collective drops on the 28th which is just a mere three days away. Over the past week or so Renji has: taken over radio, hosted an exclusive listening event, and unleashed the first video from the project. The song he chose to bring to life was his hit thought provoking turn up anthem “RoseGold.” Readers can check out a previous review of the single here. The video was done with Trell as the director and Enrique Gonzalez of EVisual as the editor. The flick opens with several animated solo shots of Genesis Renji immersing himself in the intro to the music amongst dark toned backdrops and low level lighting. From there, the camera gets up close & personal with the eccentric emcee as he’s cruising through the streets at night. There are also some trendy glimpses of Genesis Renji sitting on a throne surrounded by a haze of sorts. Versions of these scenes alternate throughout the course of the project with alcohol serving as a reoccurring motif. Which makes for an inventive tie in to the theme of the track. The special effects that are in place help to take the vision to the next level. There are some wonderful tricks done with: split screens, angles, motion, etc. Renji’s high energy and zestful mannerisms are quite mesmerizing as well. Things come to a smashing conclusion in a somewhat cryptic manner. All in all, this was a top tier creation.
**My Two Cents: This is one of the best videos I’ve seen so far this year. It truly represented the intent of the selection and it was just extremely well concocted. The concept was dope, Genesis Renji gave his soul on the performance tip, and the editing was brilliant. On another note, I actually got to meet Renji at his exclusive listening event as well as indulge in the first half of 2 In The Chamber. It was an awesome experience and the project is insane.
