Back in April, Milwaukee rapper Cinco alluded to the fact that he was working on a new project with the leak of his song “Fake It Til You Make It.” Now he has shifted the campaign for the upcoming studio album into high gear. The project is titled First & Last Impressions and is due out in October. It has been two years in the making and is described as a diverse collective of music that ranges from fun party anthems to personal real life tracks. In continuance of the effort, he recently dropped the second leak/video off of the LP. The new offering is called “Wake Up” and was produced by Rhapsodist. The tune is set to a mild mannered beat with light graceful components and a mellow vibe. The content is rich as Cinco discusses the significance of his music career and the positive feeling of living out one’s dream. His flow and rhymes are top-notch. And the vocals that are dispersed throughout the record are pleasing too. As a whole, it is a charming single.

The video was jointly directed by Cinco himself and Luke Marlowe. It is a free spirited flick that follows Cinco around as he indulges in an array of entertaining activities. For example, the opening scenes show the rapper starting his day off with a gigantic bowl of Peanut Butter Crunch cereal with Kit Kat bars mixed in. Another memorable scenario features Cinco in the swimming pool as displayed in the above photo. He’s rocking a suit jacket with a tie, shorts, and shades. Additionally, the pool is sprinkled with an assortment of toys. And there is also beer on deck. So much cooler than an ordinary afternoon swim right? The visuals close out with some massive rewind action that takes the viewer back to Cinco starting his day. This time around things are much more realistic, implying that the earlier festivities were all a fantasy/dream of sorts. Overall, this was a highly refreshing watch.

**My Two Cents: “Wake Up” is a satisfying track but the video was really great. It had an awesome energy to it and one can tell that Cinco had a blast putting it together. It really touches the care free child like spirit of the viewer. I personally loved the opening scene. Also, the Homer Simpson pants rock! I have a thing for cartoons, lol. Those interested can pre-order First & Last Impressions here. Plus, local readers are in luck. Cinco will be performing live at the first ever Milwaukee Music Festival on the 24th of this month at 6:30pm. Tons of other talent will be a part of the two day affair as well. Get all of the details via the festival’s official website. -MinM
