What better way to bring people together than: free food, an open bar, and quality music? That was what lucky deejays, journalists, emcees, and guests were treated to at the L.E.P. Bogus Boys private listening party Tuesday night (12/13/11). The event took place at local Milwaukee venue the Jackalope Lounj and was hosted by Milwaukee’s own DJ Poizon Ivy, DJ Victoriouz, and the InfaRed Music Group. The L.E.P. Bogus Boys are a Hip-Hop duo on the fast track to greatness from Chicago, IL. They were launched into the spotlight by their Don’t Feed Da Killaz Vol. 3 project. The free mixtape received a staggering 1.3 million downloads. Since that time the duo has been featured on every media outlet from VIBE to MTV and has worked with some of the hottest producers and rappers in the game. They stopped by the Jackalope Lounj to do some promoting and to enjoy another side of the Mid-West.
Upon entering the venue, those in attendance were blessed with cuts off of the L.E.P. Bogus Boys current project Now Or Neva courtesy of DJ Victoriouz. DJ Poizon Ivy was ever the gracious host as she rocked the mic welcoming guests and encouraging people to responsibly take advantage of the open bar and free food. She even ventured off the stage throughout the night and mingled with the crowd which added a nice personal touch. Once people were settled and full, guests of honor Moonie and Count arrived. They too were very interactive with the crowd, shaking hands and greeting folks as they made their way to the stage area. Their manager the lovely Miss Lorin even got in on the interaction, passing out goodies like the deejay free version of Now Or Neva on usb, very unique idea. After a brief message of appreciation from the InfaRed Music family, an exclusive sneak peek of the Bogus Boys upcoming self-titled movie was shown. The film is produced by Eric Alvarez and directed by Clarence Simmons. The audience responded well to the preview, erupting in applause once the last scene faded. The movie encompassed all the elements of a good gangsta/drama type of flick. Additionally, the audience got to witness just how much of an impression the Bogus Boys are making in the Hip-Hop industry via some footage that showed some well respected names in rap giving props to the duo. Rick Ross, Wale, 2 Chainz and many more all have mad love for L.E.P.
Following the visuals, the Bogus Boys were ready to hit the stage and show Milwaukee Hip-Hop heads how they get down in Chicago. And they definitely went in, performing popular cuts from Now Or Neva like “25th Hour” and “Claim My Sh–t.” The audience was captivated by the performance as well. People went out of their way to surround the stage while bopping to the music and rapping almost every word to every track right along with Moonie and Count. The highlight of the set came at the end when the Bogus Boys did a high energy version of their track “Chicago N—a” from their previous mixtape Don’t Feed Da Killaz Vol. 3. The atmosphere became electric and the audience went wild. Probably the most love ever shown between Milwaukee and Chicago peeps. Once the set was finished, the fellas thanked the crowd for coming out and explained their love of socializing with their public. Then true to their word, they hopped off stage and began to work the room. They spent a good amount of time chatting up each person they encountered. Also, they posed for pictures and granted interviews to the local press. Their down to earth and friendly attitudes really won over the guests. As the event came to a close, the hosts and the Bogus Boys bid everyone safe travels and farewell. Everyone left the event with nothing but good/positive things to say about the L.E.P. Bogus Boys and the party. Which was proven by all of the buzz about the party on Twitter and Facebook. So overall the listening party was a success. **My Two Cents: I loved this event, probably my favorite Poizon Ivy event thus far. Everything was really well put together and she did a nice job hosting. Also, Count and Moonie are some of the most cool and outgoing rappers ever. They showed so much love to everybody and really seemed to enjoy themselves.
