Wolfpac: Putting Sex and Booze Back Into Hip-Hop

by Miracle

wolfpac_8x10_pressshot_002Back in the golden era of Hip-Hop, two life long friends made the choice to found and launch a Hip-Hop band based out of the city of Philadelphia. These two friends Jimmy Pop and Daddy Long Legz are the brain children behind the legendary Hip-Hop group Bloodhound Gang. After the release of their first 2 projects, Dingleberry Haze in 1994 and Use Your Fingers in 1995, Daddy decided to found a brand that reflected the twisted, dark, and sexual beast that lurks within his soul; thus giving asexual birth to WOLFPAC! From the release of their freshman album Somethin Wicked This Way Comes which sold out in hours to the tune of 15,000 physical copies, WOLFPAC has been burning a bright path across the country. Sharing marquees and tour dates with names like Slipknot, Gwar, and the Insane Clown Posse, these misfits from Philly have been leading a very successful grassroots campaign and stuck to their original mission statement to remain independent and major label free.

With the huge success that WOLFPAC generated from album and merchandise sales, Daddy chose to make the final leap into the world of taboo and take his  brand one step further, into the world of porn. The movie series titled Girls Of WOLFPAC is currently on its fourth entry and features many of the girls that strip on stage during the live spectacles. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, Daddy has received critical acclaim for the first and second films in the serious receiving AVN nominations in 2008 and 2009 for “Best Pro AM Release” and “Most Outrageous Sex Scene.” The latter featuring former WOLFPAC Model Jade Jolie suspended 10 feet above the ground on four meat hooks while displaying her talents. Now to give you a little idea of the live spectacle that WOLFPAC presents you literally take the music and the porn, mash them together, add screaming fans, and you have a WOLFPAC evening.

A lot of people toss around the words “epic” and “extreme” like they apply to everything. WOLFPAC is the only band to be escorted off of the stage by police at Chicago Expo Of The Extreme and their guest appearance on the internet radio show Opie & Anthony titled “Black Wednesday” was banned and pulled off of the servers for the station. And these are just two of the very long list of fun-filled antics that fills the life of a simple down to earth libertarian and his merry band from the great state of Pennsylvania, who picked up a mic and followed his dreams and made them reality, a very profitable reality.

**My 2 Cents: Originally I was going to simply write an album review on the latest release, Square Peg Round Hole, and leave it at that. After reflecting upon the past career of WOLFPAC, I felt that a history of their musical journey had to be told for all of our Illixer readers. I will be posting my review of this album within a few days along with a few more entries into the Spotlight On The Women of Hip-Hop and until then I hope you all enjoyed the journey into the land of WOLFPAC. ~Biggz
