Rapper Nicki Minaj has been making waves since she secured a spot as a judge on American Idol. If she wasn’t being blasted for not being fit for the position, she was being aired out for her beef with legendary diva Mariah Carey. But apparently her tumultuous time on the popular music show has not done anything to slow her down. It’s been circulating the net that she is gearing up to make her acting debut in the very near future. She will be joining the cast of a film titled The Other Woman.
The film is being directed by Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog) and has been classified as a Revenge Comedy flick. Other cast members include Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and more. The plot centers around Diaz’s and Mann’s characters teaming up to take down their mutual lover who will be played by Waldau. Diaz plays one of his mistresses and Mann plays his wife. Nicki Minaj will play an assistant at a law firm. She will be working for Cameron Diaz’s character. The assistant is said to be very opinionated and no stranger to drama with men herself, as she is on her third marriage. This will be Nicki’s first physical movie opportunity, but she did lend her voice to the popular animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift in 2012. Also during her school days, Minaj appeared in several plays and drama presentations. And she has previously expressed her interest in acting via past interviews. But she wants her music fans to know that she hasn’t forgotten about them. She is slowly but surely putting things in motion for her third LP. She reported to MTV that she has started listening to / selecting beats and that music will always be her biggest priority. No exact release date has been given for The Other Woman as of yet. But sources say that it will hit the big screen sometime in 2014.
**My Two Cents: I fell out of love with Nicki after her first album. She took an off turn once she hit the mainstream and I just can’t vibe with her. However, I never hate on anyone’s hustle and Miss Thing is constantly bringing in paper. I wish her luck in her acting endeavors. Maybe her being able to play pretend outside of music will bring her back to reality when she returns to the scene for her third album. Time will tell. -MinM
