Rapper Louie Z is pushing full steam ahead with two brand new singles / videos. First up, is a track called “Ides Of March.” Historically, “Ides Of March” is associated with the assassination of the infamous Roman figure Julius Caesar. However, Louie Z has used it as a way of remixing fellow rapper Drake‘s latest breakout single, “5am In Toronto.” For those new to the song, it’s a bass heavy number with an appealing rhythm, graceful background components, and a stern vibe. Louie fits into the song well. He adds a sleek flow and strapping rhymes. He owned the remix without a doubt. See what happened when he took a crack at doing a video below.
This video is a creation of Curtis M Designs. Staying true to form, Louie and the team kept the visuals pretty forthright. The setting for the piece once again finds Louie Z outdoors. He took to desolate areas, turned on his free and easy persona, and did what he does best. One of the more noteworthy scenes entails Louie Z in the middle of and around a healthy sized metal structure. It stands out due to the fact that it’s not seemingly an ideal location for shooting but it works. There are a variety of angles and transitions that help to supplement the flick as well. The video finishes up with an obscure view of the streets and then fades to black. Overall, this was a moderate watch.
**My Two Cents: This was a dope remix. I’d even go so far as to say this is one of the best I’ve heard of “5am In Toronto.” The video was fair. I like the unusual setting choices. Also, Louie Z is always just so chill and comfortable in his videos. That is a pretty cool element too. I would like to see him try his hand at a more conceptualized video where he had to do a little acting or something though. I think he would kill it. Readers can catch Louie Z here and his second video will on the site very soon. So make sure to check back. -MinM
