To catch the site as well as readers up with New Jersey artist Drama‘s releases from his current project Psalms 151, his team sent over the debut single from the album. It’s called “Hoopty Music” and is a bit of a contrast from the two previous singles that were shared. Like the rest of his tunes, Trac-Qaeda served as the producer on this track.
The production here is hot. The hard hitting foundation, brimming musical details, driving tempo, and  hood vibe culminate in a high grade blend. The hook is on point. The delivery is spirited and the lyrics are succinct. The verses are first-rate. Drama serves up a commanding flow, raw wordplay, and businesslike rhymes. He gives the listener a sick example of just how lethal he can be when he steps up to rock the mic. A handful of lines that make an impact are: “I’m f–king up n—as’ weekend. Take a dive in my deep end. Demolishing every weakling. Soon as we get to speaking you puppets begin to leaking. (…) My penmanship is prolific. Lyricism is twisted. With great decision for vision. Got me conquering my mission. Peep the flow when it’s switching. It’s so wicked got you addicted. Can’t believe this existed. They like damn this papi is gifted.” Those are some very resolute bars right there. In the end, this is an optimal lead single.
**My Two Cents: This is an attention grabbing number. The beat is on ten and the content is fierce. Drama does a fine job of bringing to life the coarse nature that he describes in the opening dialog of the song. If readers enjoyed Drama’s other featured material, they should definitely give this an ear as well. Psalms 151 may be the rapper’s first project but it certainly won’t be his last. The New Jersey talent has a promising future in the Hip-Hop world for sure. -MinM
