Bay Area songstress Netta Brielle is a fresh new face to the infamous Atlantic Records family. She’s on a mission to bring back that old school 90’s flavor to the R&B scene that people enjoy and miss so much. She got her start in local talent events at a young age via crafts such as rapping and drum playing. Courtesy of her older sister, Netta drew her inspiration for music from the likes of Janet Jackson, Teena Marie, Mary J. Blige, and more. Eventually, her influences led her to make the transition into singing. She took her desire to sing to new heights, following the tragic loss of her younger sister. It was her way of turning the negative energy in her life into something positive while at the same time serving as an example to those around her. Netta would go on to catch the attention of the late Shakir Stewart (RIP) of Def Jam Records. He worked with Netta to help her find her footing in the music game. However, he passed away just as things were starting to take off and Netta’s career took a setback. But she didn’t let that keep her down. She and her team pushed forward and dropped a project titled Electric Rebel Sounds Mixtape. The tape along with Netta’s reputation caught the interest of Yancey Richardson of El Seven Recordings. He got Netta to Atlantic Records and the rest is history.
Currently, Netta is pushing a mixtape that she dropped earlier this month called Will You Go With Me?. Part of this effort is sharing the tape’s lead single/video, “More To A Kiss.” The track is a grown & sexy number set to a premium mellow production. Netta Brielle pays homage to her boo by sharing how their connection makes something as simple as a kiss have a major impact. She brings gorgeous melodies and flawless endearing lyrics all wrapped up in her signature 90’s style. As a whole, the song is on ten. The video for the record is winning too. It has a straightforward concept as it basically just shows Netta as she interacts with her significant other. They have a lot of cute/flirty moments as well as some more sensual ones. Coupled with Netta’s passionate performance during her solo scenes, it represents the single effortlessly. Overall, it’s a must watch for sure.
**My Two Cents: I’m a HUGE fan of 90’s R&B, so I took to Netta Brielle instantly. Her vocals and style are awesome. “More To A Kiss” is a smash hit no question and the flick was a great accessory to the tune. Netta and her leading man did an excellent job of selling the role of a couple deeply attracted to one another. The basketball scene was too cute.
