Female rapper Eve went from being one of the most promising emcees of her time to taking a bit of an unexpected musical hiatus. However, she recently put an end to her time away from the Hip-Hop scene and is gearing up to drop a new LP. The LP is titled Lip Lock and the Philly native has released a few singles to get people ready for her return. The first couple of songs received mixed reviews but her third single has everybody singing her praises. It’s simply titled “Eve” and features fellow artist Miss Kitty. It’s a hard hitting number with abrasive elements, a vigorous vibe, a quirky hook, and paramount rhymes. It has also been marked as one of Eve’s favorite tracks off of her pending project. Yesterday (4/30), she closed out the month of April by unleashing a video for the record. Check it out below.

This video was shot in the streets of London as this is where Eve currently resides with her new mate.  She wanted to keep things straightforward to a certain extent, so the spitter herself decided to rock just: a tank top, beanie, and pants for her main look. She covers a good deal of ground in her travels around London. She passes a handful of graffiti covered buildings, slips through a couple of alley ways, does some cruising through residential / business areas, etc. She kept to the more urban locations which was a very fitting choice. The visuals are spruced up by: slow motion techniques, close ups, screen manipulations, color changes, and more. The flick ends with live footage of Eve on set jamming out to her self-titled cut. Overall, this was a banging video.

**My Two Cents: I was not feeling Eve’s first couple of singles. But this song and video are hot. It’s raw and gritty which to me is when Eve is at her very best. Nothing wrong with trying new things but one should never totally abandon their roots either. Lip Lock is supposed to hit retailers on May 14th. It is a 12 track offering that entails guest appearances from the likes of: Dawn Richard, Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg, and others. Eve describes the album as the most diverse representation of herself to date. Lip Lock makes for Eve’s fourth LP and will be her first major release in over a decade. Welcome back Eve! -MinM
