Best Of 2006 – 2012

Earlier this month, readers were introduced to Young Kropes. He’s the cat repping both Milwaukee and Florida whose main goal is to keep Hip-Hop lovers entertained via his music. He recently dropped a brand new project for his fans. It’s similar to that of a greatest hits album. He went through his catalog, which includes over 100 songs, and selected 20 of his best tracks. Then he took the tracks to DJ Chiszle and had them mixed to perfection. The result is the Best Of 2006 – 2012 mixtape.

The mixtape features a wide selection of cuts. There are some of Kropes’s infamous remixes as well as some original numbers. The production is extremely versatile too. The beats range from hard hitting club joints to slower tempo joints accented by light sound effects. The lyrical content is also very diverse. Topics covered  consist of: city pride, weed, dancing, money, personal sentiments, and more. Kropes did a great job of choosing songs. A  few noteworthy cuts would be: “Nasty Girl,” “Keep Me In Your Memory,” and “Crazy Whiteboy Dance.” Overall, this is a decent mixtape. The fact that it has so much variety is the selling point. It has something for all tastes, so it will attract more listeners. If anyone happens to be in Florida for the weekend, Kropes will be performing this coming Saturday (3/17) aka St. Patrick’s Day. He will be in Bartow at The Venue. If one can’t make it to the show, no worries. He is also planning a mixtape/album release party. The party will take place at Evolution Records in Lakeland, FL. The date is not yet set but will most likely be sometime in May. And Milwaukee fans, Kropes has not forgotten about you either. He is currently working on some ventures that will hopefully allow him to return home to rock a stage or two this Summer. Stay tuned to The Illixer for future updates.

**My Two Cents: I liked this mixtape. I think Kropes picked some solid tracks that really show off his skills. Readers are strongly encouraged to click that link and give it a listen. Also, I hope he gets the chance to make it back here to Milwaukee for the Summer. I think it would be dope to see him do his thing live. He seems like a very high energy type of performer. -MinM
