It’s been a few months since readers have heard from site favorite expressive spirit, Tiki Da Poet. But its for a good reason. She has been hard at work on some new projects, like her first ever CD for example. However, she was kind of enough to pause her efforts and submit a few written pieces to the site. The first one up is titled “Fumble No More” and it was actually inspired by a fellow poet. That poet is Gunn Starr and his work that moved Tiki is called “Fumbling In the Light.” Find out what her motivation led her to create after the break.

“Fumble No More”

(Poem By Tiki Da Poet)

One look into ur eyes … I see a lost soul…
Restless …
Ready 2 be free from torment … rage …
Darkness …
Hold me close … let me warm
Ur cold heart …
Make u feel alive again
While everything else fades away …
This will NOT
My words are coming from the
Very core of my heart
Bring sunlight to ur darkness
Brightening ur days
Bring pleasure instead of pain
To have u near me … so close
Is more than a blessing …
It is Eternal Bliss.

This piece is short and to the point. It entails trying to bring someone out of a gloomy place in their life. It is full of well-established descriptions and details. The first portion of the piece contains a bit of grim imagery while the second portion is more on the optimistic side. The progression between the two sets of perspectives was a great approach to the theme. Additionally, the shorter lines in the piece really standout and do an excellent job of conveying emotion. Overall, this was a relishable offering.

**My Two Cents: This was a brief yet stirring piece. I really enjoyed the picture that was painted through the illustrative word choice and the feelings that they evoked as well. Tiki always puts together pieces that really touch the reader deep inside in some aspect. One has to love a writer that can make you react. Readers can find more of Tiki’s work on Facebook. Also, there are a few more writings that will be up on the site soon as well. -MinM
