Have you ever felt too old for one song and too young for the next? Have you ever tried to listen to a Trap record without getting a recipe for an overdose? Or listen to a super lyrical record without falling asleep on the beat? No worries. Shawn and Beyoncé Carter have a new genre for you. Contemporary Trap. Yes, for the listener who wants to bang in the trap until the streetlights come on. Everything is Love is a 9-track joint effort between rap-legend Jay-Z and mother of the universe, Beyoncé.

I’m back like a baby daddy during tax season. A lot has happened since the last time we spoke. Too much to cover, but the ongoing theme is, ‘Corny Rappers Will Corny Rap.’ But we’re not going to focus on them numb-nuts. We are going to focus on one year. Yes, it’s been one year since we were told to get in formation. A year ago, megastar Beyoncé, stood on a New Orleans Police car with her Black power fist and told us “I just might be a Black Bill Gates in the making.” We were in awe as a little boy danced in front of the police, while they had their hands up. This video and song is everything and more. To the typical ‘Pop fan,’ they won’t get it. But to Black people, Black women in particular, this is what we needed to hear.

Meet Khadijah Monay Miller, better known by the stage name Luxury. She is an independent artist who specializes in the mastery of a Pop, Urban, EDM, and Reggae blended sound. She has worked with an independent label from 2012-2014 and is now ready to take her career to the next level. Raised in Newark, NJ her love for music and the arts came about almost instinctively. Since the beginning of time Luxury has been showcasing her talent and diligently working towards actualizing her dreams of being a world renowned singer and songwriter. She is heavily influenced by Pop Culture and 90’s Hip-Hop and R&B, such as: Aaliyah, Beyoncé, Brandy, Rihanna, Madonna, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, and Chris Brown. Due to Luxury’s eclectic style her songwriting is a little different from most songwriters who started out as poets. Instead of beginning the song by writing she “finds her melodies first and then the words fall into place.” By relying on the melodies to anchor the feelings and emotions of the songs, she is able to reach a broader audience and not be boxed in by one particular sound.

Deni Rosa

Meet New York’s own Deni Rosa. She began her singing career as a child singing in her grandmother’s church and starring in school plays and choral ensembles. Since the tender age of two, she’s had a profound love for music and could be seen watching recorded music videos as well as live performances of greats such as: Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston. With additional influences stemming from other greats acts like: TLC, En Vogue, Usher, Yolanda Adams, Mary J. Blige, and Beyoncé. Deni’s style can be described as a Renaissance R&B with an Urban swag. In 2012, Deni released her first EP unDENIable receiving great reviews. Deni’s sultry smooth sound and creative concepts grab the attention of anyone that she graces with her talents making her without a doubt an electrifying newcomer in the industry.

Hailing from the great state of Texas, Hip-Hop lyricist Joe Sauseda has always had a connection with music since his adolescent years. His passion for the art dates back to the early 90’s, growing up on the Gospel and Tejano genres. He later discovered the art of Hip-Hop through the likes of: Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, Warren G, and UGK. Sauseda’s lyrics are his obsession because they come from his personal relationships with money, family, and friends. His debut EP So It Begins! discusses trials and tribulations that so many face. He likes to turn these ordeals into verses that are meant to encourage and motivate his listeners into being their best self. Sauseda has many projects on the horizon, but it is his collaboration with legendary music producer S1 aka Symbolyc One (Kanye West – “Power,” Beyoncé – “Best Thing I Never Had”) that will prove to be his major step forward.
