Sonick is one of the site’s day ones if you will. Consistent in the quality of his artistry and just a genuine individual. So it is always our pleasure to bring new or maybe just possibly unheard music from the 414 bred talent. In honor of the relaunch, he sent over his track “The Boss.” It’s been in a quiet circulation of sorts but is definitely deserving of a bigger spotlight.
The production here is satisfying. The clean infrastructure, weighty musical details, off-beat tempo, and forceful vibe are smartly matched. The hook is notable. The delivery is prompt and the lyrics are pointed. The verses are nothing to take lightly. Sonick approaches the mic with a whirlwind flow, impressive wordplay, and high-caliber rhymes. He totally embodies all of the characteristics that one would expect from a boss emcee. Peep lines like: “First off, let me start off by saying I’m a bull. You gone need a hog-tie and an energy drink and a long night. Sonick is the wrong guy to block that’s a danger to yo life. I came from the hood where it’s danger at all times, hard times s–t we gone get it out the mud grind.” Those bars right there definitely set a striking tone. As a whole, this is an official track.
**My Two Cents: Sonick is one of those artists that just does not miss in my book. His beat selection is always top tier, his flow on point, and his rhymes well put together. I love the dependability. “The Boss” is giving anthem status. However you’re getting to the bag, this song is sure to hype you up and provide a little extra motivation. I’m glad Sonick was willing to let us share it with the readers. Hopefully, he has some new goodies coming our way in the very near future. -MinM
