Emcee/actor/writer/comedian Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has landed his own television series on the FX network (Sons Of Anarchy). The working title of the show for the time being is Atlanta. The sitcom will be a half-hour comedy that will take place in the world of the ATL music scene. Gambino will serve as a star, writer, and producer for the project.

Gambino will call on his real life experiences growing up in the A and his experiences as an artist in the Hip-Hop community to help develop the project. He chose FX due to their current comedy brand and the fact that they were the most flexible network when it came to considering his music and touring schedule. Some of his acting fans may be worried that this new venture will interfere with his present role on the NBC show, Community. He plays a lead role on the program as a character named Troy Barnes. And they are sort of right. Gambino’s role on the cult comedy will be dialed down to just 5 out of the 13 episodes that are scheduled to air for the upcoming fifth season. Gambino has been involved in television before via his work on series like 30 Rock and Girls. He has also done countless shorts, voice over roles, a couple of films, and headlined a few standup comedy specials. He actually got his start in entertainment as part of the sketch comedy group, Derrick Comedy at New York University. Musically, he has four projects under his belt as well as a respectable list of collaborations with other artists. No premiere date was given for Atlanta at the time of press. Should any further details be released, an update will be done accordingly.

**My Two Cents: I’m not a huge fan of Gambino as an artist or an actor but I have a huge amount of respect for his hustle. He is doing big things in the entertainment world and doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. I love seeing people taking full advantage of their blessings in life. I wish him nothing but continued success. I’m very into FX and their programming; so I may give the new show a chance. -MinM
