New York based emcee YC The Cynic has developed quite the reputation for himself throughout the course of his career. He has come to be known for his sharp lyricism and is seen as a staple in the Progressive Hip-Hop movement. His end game is to restore life to the birth place of the Hip-Hip culture. Which is fitting as he was born in the Bronx. His most notable effort in achieving said goal is being a part of RDACBX. It’s a Hip-Hop community center in the South Bronx. YC has been teaching a session called “Art Of Rap” in the hopes of giving the youth the tools they need to change the course of mainstream Hip-Hop period. If that wasn’t enough YC has also: been featured on major networks such as BET, appeared in major publications such as The Source, and has toured worldwide. So his top five underground emcee spot is well deserved. Recently, YC took Complex Magazine on a tour through his old stomping grounds as he broke down some tidbits about his career. There are even a couple of clips here and there of him spitting a few bars. He was kind enough to shoot it over to the site. Take a glance at the insightful seven minute piece above. -MinM
