Like A Legend is an one of kind individual holding it down here in the 414. His roots are in guitar playing and more Rock / Pop style music. However over the past couple of years, Hip-Hop has become a staple in his musical life as well. So he recently decided to try and throw it all together.  His ultimate goal is to put together a band that can help him create music based on all of the many genres that inspire him. He plans on using his experience in Music Theory to sharpen his own skills to help aid with the process. While he is working on the band, he is testing the waters on the solo tip. He acknowledges the fact that he is not a typical Hip-Hop artist by any means and doesn’t desire to be. He just wants people to enjoy his music and recognize him as genuine as opposed to writing him off as a gimmick.

Like A Legend’s first venture into the new phase of his career is a song called “Wants Me Bad.” The production here is great. It contains a seriously upbeat tempo, groovy instrumentation, and a fun vibe. The hook is grade A quality as well. The vocals are made for the beat and the lyrics are addicting. The verses are solid. Like A Legend has a speedy flow, modest wordplay, and fair rhymes. If he slowed his pace a bit and got a little more innovative with his words, the verses would be a lot stronger. But for a newbie, they are pretty decent. He does an entertaining job of sharing his encounter with an overzealous female. With lines like: “Someone gotta stop this. Makes me nauseous just to watch this. Me and her were doing shots with these other hot chicks. I was being chill but her she got obnoxious. Tried to slide her hand down my boxers. And she f–king tried to lock lips;”  how can one not be amused. Overall, this song is fly. It’s just a really charismatic number.

**My Two Cents: Like A Legend describes his style as 90’s music with a modern day twist. I totally agree. He reminds me a lot of the group Citizen King. Coincidentally, Citizen King was also from Milwaukee. I like this song because it’s something different and it reflects the fact that Hip-Hop has no boundaries. Like A Legend plans to put together a sampler of more tracks to release to fans in the near future. I definitely want to check it out. Readers can keep up with him and his journey via his website. -MinM
