Why You Should Attend: Lady Fusion (Urban Fusion Milwaukee) is the lovely diva who put this event together. Her goal in doing so is to begin to create a more visual sense of unity amongst artists via the ladies coming together and holding it down for femcees in today’s era of Hip-Hop. Additionally, she wanted to give the performers a chance to share their stories/struggles. All of the talents have dealt with or are dealing with their fair share of hardships and utilize music/poetry as a means of coping & healing. It also allows for feelings of self empowerment and independence. For the talents as well as other individuals who may come across their art. Fusion describes the event’s mission as follows: “We have our own voice, our own story and we couldn’t have done it without the strong women before us … and those before them. Be it in Hip-Hop or history books, etc. We are here today STRONG and WE are passionate creatures. HEAR US ROAR … “ That’s a pretty chilling statement. By attending the show guests will: be coming together for a great culture, showing some much needed love to the female population, and receiving enlightenment. If that’s not enough, the event’s sponsors (Foiled Hair Salon, Brown Sugar Beauty Makeup, and Studio 402) have some cool giveaways in store. That’s a whole lot to gain for just $5. So there is no real reason not to come out and support. The Illixer staff will definitely be in the building. See you there! -MinM
