After a few stand alone tracks, limited time songs, and some teasing here and there, $killz has finally released his first official single off of his upcoming debut album, Watch & Learn. The song is titled “On 10” and of course it was produced by Adlib of Umbrella Music Group. If the song seems familiar its because $killz has performed a version of the track a time or two to generate buzz and to keep fans in high anticipation. It was well worth the wait.
The production here is fresh. The low subtle musical elements combined with the leisurely rhythm create a sober yet enticing vibe. The hook is of premium quality. The delivery is effortless. The lyrics are strong and aggressive which matches the tone of the beat perfectly. The verses are impeccable. $killz has a quiet yet attention grabbing flow, razor sharp wordplay, and wicked rhymes. He does an excellent job of putting his street and play boy personas on display. Some memorable lines include: “B–ch I’m on 10. Tell me what you drinking. Bartender double that. What the f–k is ya’ll n—as thinking. I represent the M I L and I’m a always hold it down. $ k i ll z be the n—a. If you didn’t know before, you know now.” Slick spitting right there and a choice way to kick off the second verse. All in all, this single is a hit. All of the components are top of the line and this track really sets the bar for the rest of Watch & Learn. Peep the promo video for “On 10” below.
**My Two Cents: I was one of the lucky people who got to see $killz perform this live. And I was feeling the track right away. Its got a lot of personality to it and Adlib murdered the production.
