“Glory”

Hip-Hop power couple Jay Z and Beyonce have pretty much owned all media outlets these past few days. The reason being that Beyonce gave birth to the couple’s first child Blue Ivy Carter on January 7, 2012. Probably going down as the biggest event of the year. In honor of the momentous occasion, Hov has released a track dedicated to his baby girl. He even went so far as to sample her cries on the track (awww). The song is receiving very positive reviews, as it features Jay Z getting very personal and emotional with his rhymes. That is not something that he does too often.

The production here is quality. It features a light bass, some soulful background vocals, and an old school vibe. The hook is fair, basically just repetition of the song title. The verses are good. Hov pays tribute to Baby Blue with a clean easy paced flow and well put together rhymes. The listener can feel Jay’s emotions as he opens up about everything from his childhood memories to the couple’s unfortunate previous miscarriage. Some standout lines include: “I wreak havoc on the world. Get ready for part  two. A younger, smarter, faster me. So a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Bey. Glory. The most amazing feeling I feel. Words can’t describe what a feeling for real. Baby I paint the sky blue. My greatest creation was you.” Doesn’t that just pull at the heart strings? The track ends with the sounds of the infamous Blue Ivy Carter herself. What a way to make a debut. Overall, this track is a winner. The feel good vibe and personal message are truly hard to deny. But don’t just take the review at face value. Click the above provided link and check out daddy and daughter for yourself.

**My Two Cents: I loved this track. It was a truly beautiful gesture on Jay Z’s part and something that Baby Blue will cherish for her entire life. Congrats to Jay Z and Beyonce on their new daughter. I wish them nothing but the best! -MinM
