Dear Kanye Omari West,

I’ve been trying to be nice. I’ve been trying to ignore your rants like Sallie Mae phone calls. However, your push on being accepted is as annoying as your baby mother. Now don’t get me wrong, you have great points. But that’s it. You know what annoys me about you, Lupe, and others like you? You guys love to tell us the problem but no solution. We all know what the problem is. We diagnosed it a long time ago. Now the question is, what’s the solution?

You believe the problem is the fashion world doesn’t accept you because you’re Black. Aw that beautiful race card. It’s like a draw four in UNO™. Yes, your race might have played a part, but it was the last part. You know what the real problem is? You sir, are a narcissistic egotistical maniac, who believes everything should be handed to you instead of earned. You believe these corporations should be throwing their money at you because you’re Kanye West. No. Corporations, especially old corporations, have been around for hundreds of years. Trust me, the first Louis Vuitton don was stunting in 1850. They really don’t need you. Now, you worked what one year of an internship at a fashion house? They’re literally thousands of people who went to school for fashion, and got turned down by countless houses for internships. They never got to design shoes for Nike and Louboutin. They never got to have dinner with Anna Wintour. Or to even have two different fashion lines (Pastelle and DONDA) and showcase them in Paris.

And lets be very honest here. Your fashion designs suck. You want to design for women but none of your clothes nor shoes look like they were made for a human woman. Now a Raggedy Ann doll, yes. Unless the women is shaped like the Pi symbol, your fashion line wasn’t going to sell even if you had a corporate backing. Well maybe it would, since you’re so ‘influential.’ But if you were as influential as you say, you wouldn’t have these problems. Or maybe if you stop looking for White acceptance, you wouldn’t have these problems. Aw the plot thickens. After watching countless hours of you wasting folks money with rants not songs on YouTube, I’ve realized all your rants have the same undertone. It’s: ‘I’m really a great guy, White America please love me.’

Kanye, I’m not going to leave you hanging though. Here’s a solution, do what that Drake song says and ‘start from the bottom.’ The most successful moguls have been told no and found a way. Your mentor Jay Z couldn’t get signed to a label and started his own. Impressed by what he did with Reasonable Doubt, Def Jam offered him a deal. Victoria Beckham had the same problems as you. The fashion world just saw her as a Spice Girl. So, after working at Rock & Republic, she got enough great feedback to start her own line. The rest is history. Pharrell Williams, Lenny Kravitz, Coco Chanel, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey – they all worked from the bottom to get where they are, and to get what they want. Start by opening your own boutique or an online store. Corporations don’t invest in products by word of mouth but by numbers. Stop begging. Nobody likes a whiner. Check your emotions at the door. And finally not everyone is going to like you, so deal.  Remember, to build an empire you must first start with the base. So get to work, stop crying, and Godspeed.

“OR MAYBE IF YOU STOP LOOKING FOR WHITE ACCEPTANCE… ” <- Now, that is the complete truth. I love this article. I want to frame it and hang it in my studio. Too many artists are egotistical maniacs…. What will it take to humble these idiots!?
