“I Like It” (Listen Here)
While we were sorting some s–t out (lol), the local music scene was thriving like it never has before. From high quality releases to landing on big ticket competition series, Milwaukee artists have been putting the world on notice. Among said group, is long time site affiliate Cardiac Da Pulse. He is currently whipping up a new project coined Royal Ambition. There are two singles in rotation for the pending collective and one in particular won The Illixer over right away.
“I Like It” features appearances from DJ Draulikz, Je’Love, and Class M. It is produced by Thomas Cragier. The track boasts a female centered theme wrapped in a feel good package that is sure to appeal to listeners of all tastes. The production here is a gem. The low lying foundation, sparkling musical ingredients, and clean tempo make for an excellent pairing. The hook is catchy. The lyrics are light and the deliveries are effortless. The verses are expressive. Cardiac Da Pulse employs his trademark flow, descriptive wordplay, and straightforward rhymes. He kicks off with: “This goes out to them real women. 9 to 5, they get it, get it. Hair whipped, cut low. I’m with it though. Admit it though. She come calling I’m jumping out of that window. She confident and she beautiful. I like the paint of them cuticles.” Can you say smooth operator? Ladies be on the lookout and fellas take notes. As a whole, this is a great promotional number.
**My Two Cents: I love checking out new tunes from Cardiac Da Pulse. He is one of the most humble and low key artists within the scene but his music speaks volumes. He is consistent and always manages to give the listener a vibe/mood. When Royal Ambition drops it seems like it’s definitely going to be a project to keep an ear out for.
