The BET annual cookout (2014 BET Awards) has come and gone, but not without some highlights. Cousin August Alsina got emotional because he’s finally doing something positive and not in someone’s jail cell. While we celebrated little bad a** Breezy (Chris Brown) for finishing his jail sentence, his big brother Usher was trying to prove he still got it. Our drunk aunties got excited to see our uncles from the nineties. Uncle Lionel Richie got us to jitterbug and Aunt Phylicia Rashad paid remembrance to our fallen grandmothers (Ruby Dee and Maya Angelou). And of course our sister Beyoncé, along with her husband Hov, sent us their best wishes through Skype. Now on to the topic for today. It seemed that our other big sister Nicki Minaj, wasn’t feeling the love that T.I.’s other woman Iggy Azalea was receiving. Now Nicki’s speech might have made her seem pressed (in some parts – yes), but there is some truth in her rant.

Site affiliate Rod McCoy recently set free a new set of visuals for his supporters to enjoy. The visuals are representative of a collaboration that he did with fellow artist and childhood homie Mighty. The track is labeled “No One.” It came about as a result of some work the pair have been doing together down in the ATL. It was written as well as recorded just over a week ago with a little green on deck for creative assistance.

After giving us a glimpse of his skills behind the mic with his first single “Coltrane,” ATL emcee ERA finally released his latest project The Breeze Card Chronicles (BCC) last month. ERA uses a pretty structured theme around the concept of using a Breeze Card, a public transit pass, to travel about the city of Atlanta (yes, I had to do some research on this one, hahaha). There are some pretty unique moments on this body of work and it is interesting indeed.

Producers United frontrunner J1K stays in full effect with his latest beat tape, Walk To Nowhere (WTN), released earlier this year. This is one of multiple releases over the past year which included his projects Cruisin’ and Dark Forces, the latter of which was reviewed by The Illixer. He keeps getting better with his craft and here are some of the best tracks to pay attention to on WTN.

Got another one from The N-Crowd Entertainment‘s Takticz, this time off his upcoming collaboration EP Brehh x Bae with teammates Maryann and N8 The Gr8. The twist: this is an ode to The Illixer directly … well, sort of. “The Blog Approach” is Takticz’ open letter to music blogs worldwide on what he thinks is necessary to make the cut.
